Hon. John J. McNaught
1921-1994

Judge John J. McNaught clerked for United States District Court Judge William T. McCarthy from 1950-1954. He was a civil litigator in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1954-1972, whereupon he took the oath as Associate Justice of the Superior Court, and remained until 1979. In that same year, he took the oath of office as a United States District Court Judge for the District of Massachusetts. He retired from the bench in 1992. Unfortunately, he passed only two years later, in 1994.

Throughout his career, Judge McNaught was a lecturer on Torts, Evidence, and Trial Practice at Boston College Law School. He also lectured on Evidence at Suffolk University Law School. He served as a lecturer on Trial Advocacy as a member of the Special Faculty at Boston University Law School for 10 years. He was a faculty member of the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada. He was also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, both as an attorney in 1969, and also as a Judicial Fellow.
